These are just a few questions and answers that I thought might be appropriate for someone who has never practiced yoga before. I have tried to adjust them for the sort of classes I am now running. If you would like to know anything else please contact me using the details listed below.
What do I wear?
The clothes in your closet, not the baggiest and not the tightest. Something comfortable to move around in and not restrictive. Try bending and stretching in your clothes. Shoes are not required as it is best to work with bare feet.
On facebook live video sessions you are not visible to anyone else, so..... Careful though because on Zoom you could be visible to everyone!
Do I need any special equipment?
A yoga mat is required to help give a good non-slip base and you may need water to keep you hydrated. I also sometimes ask you to use other items thay you help you during your practice, these include a substantial book (to substitute for a yoga block), a belt or scarf (to sunstitute for a yoga strap) and a chair for additional support.
Will I be at the front of the class?
Maybe not appropriate anymore but in these classes you can be wherever you are comfortable. The main thing is that you can see the teacher clearly.
How will I compare to others?
Yoga is not competitive so you don't need to compare yourself to anyone else and besides we all have 'good' and 'bad' days! Your yoga practice is a time for you to be with yourself and relax.
Will there be any other new people?
There is a very good chance that you will not be the only 'new person' as I am keen to involve as many people new to yoga as possible.
With our present Covid19 restrictions I am insisting that everybody who is new to my practice takes a One 2 One class with me, video, indoors or outdoors, before attending any group classes, so that I can make sure they are familiar with my practice methods and I can gain an understanding of their health situation.
Given the situation over the last year or so, I have become reasonably adept at dealing with, and helping my clients deal with, most video viewing platforms (laptops, ipads, phones and others) and their associated problems. If I don't know the answers I generaly know someone who probably does!
Do you have other questions?
Then please email or text me and I will do my best to answer them.
